I am a natural-light portrait photographer who photographs families, couples, high school seniors, small events, and portraits for headshots. I also enjoy taking landscape photos, which I sell in the form of prints and notecards.
For as long as I can remember, I have seen beauty in unexpected places--the way light catches a flower or highlights a face, for instance. The power to capture a moment for eternity is awesome, and I take it very seriously. Many people have a hard time liking photos of themselves, so it fills my heart when someone loves a photo I've taken of them. I often capture details and expressions others miss, finding the mundane and making it special.
My proudest moment as a photographer? I spearheaded the Hull Front Steps Project that raised over $14,000 for our local food bank/social service agency, Wellspring. Organizing ten local photographers to take pictures of 200 families on their front steps during the Covid-19 Pandemic was no easy feat. But this labor of love highlighted the power of photography. Beyond raising money, it connected people in our community during a difficult historic time when all hope seemed lost.
I am a Juried Artist Member at the Sea & Sky Show at the Hull Lifesaving Museum, Hull Artists Juried Member Show, and the Scituate Arts Association Juried Show. My work has been featured in the Hull Times and published in the Front Steps Project book, Color Shot Magazine, and Shutter Up Magazine.
I am a singer, a wife to Greg, a mother of four (Lillian, Graham, Caleb, and Jonah), and an avid school volunteer. I am the Secretary of the New England Pandas/PANS Association. I also have a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Photography is simply a different way to communicate. I love all that I do in my life, but it is photography that feeds my soul.
Our son’s rehearsal dinner night whizzed by so quickly, there is no way we’d remember (or even saw) all the special moments Jennifer captured. The pictures came out absolutely amazing! I am so happy that Jennifer seized the moments!
—Michelle Lanner, Mother of the Groom
Jen photographed our surprise engagement and though I was totally unprepared, Jen still made me feel like a superstar. She was meticulous and helpful yet remained mindful about letting us enjoy the moment naturally, making sure we had time to celebrate. We now have amazing keepsakes on display throughout our home.
—Katie Manning, Surprised Bride-to-be
I was never one to shine or feel comfort in front of a camera. Jennifer quickly put me at ease and made my experience easy and fun. I was even able to incorporate some of my favorite things in my photos! She was extremely creative with the poses, as to ensure not only that I was comfortable but also that my personality was captured.
—Ryan Parks, High School Senior
Jennifer is a gifted photographer who knows how to capture the essence of her subjects. I loved the photos she took of me for the cover of my music anthology and my publisher was delighted too!
